I have the first six chapters back from Tonya, who’s doing her best to keep me on track for my two choices of release dates.
Easy enough to handle the edits for Chapters 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Chapter 3’s giving me fits.
Discord and the gang are pretty busy in Something to Curse About, which meant no time for a certain type of scene–or at least, I didn’t think so. One beta reader campaigned for it, and Tonya’s found a spot where it could fit: Chapter Three.
The problem is, even though it would logically work there and wouldn’t be just a “put one in because” situation, I’ve had it in my head there wouldn’t be one and now can’t figure out how to fit it in. I don’t have to go whole hog with it, but then again, as the beta reader in question pointed out, people might be expecting one, so not going whole hog may disappoint some.
Argh. I’ll try to work something out on it after the day job’s done.
6:48 PM Update: Done with edits through Chapter 11. Yes, figured out a workable solution for the hangup on Chapter 3. 🙂
I just emailed the FINAL final draft of Something to Curse About to my editor. Ending word count (for now): 70, 281.
Much love to Kate, Jo, and Tonya for hanging in there through all the work and for their usual excellent suggestions. I couldn’t do this without you ladies!
Now, it’s down to waiting for Tonya’s edits to come back and acting on those, before formatting and releasing Something. I’ll give a final date once the file’s back in my hot little hands.
I hope everyone who is waiting for it enjoys the final result. Thanks for hanging in there too! 🙂
